Let’s get started!
Ingredients:
- 4 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 2 cups sweet tapioca starch
- 1 cup sour tapioca starch
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup melted coconut oil or olive oil
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder (optional)
- 1 teaspoon oregano (optional)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix the mashed potatoes with the sweet and sour tapioca starches.
- Add the water, coconut oil, salt, and, if desired, turmeric and oregano.
- Combine all the ingredients until you have a smooth, uniform dough.
- Shape the dough into round balls and place them on a baking sheet greased with oil or lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Additional Tips:
You can vary the recipe by using sweet potatoes, parsnips, cassava, or even carrots in place of the 2 potatoes.
If you want to freeze them, just shape the dough and place it on a baking sheet in the freezer for 2 hours. Afterward, remove from the sheet, put in bags, and store in the freezer. When you want a fresh and hot cheese bread, just place it in the oven to bake.
To make your vegan cheese bread even tastier, how about adding a little vegan cheese or sun-dried tomato in the center of the balls before baking? This will add an extra and flavorful touch.
You can also experiment with different shapes, like making sticks or other forms. The choice is yours!
Additionally, if you want to enhance the flavor, try adding seasonings like oregano, garlic powder, dried onion, or even black pepper to give that special touch.
Turmeric, in addition to helping give color, is also great for health due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
